"Duet"

This was for last week's Illustration Friday topic, "duet."

One of the first things I thought of when I saw the topic was symbiotic animal relationships, like those little birds who pick the little bits of meat out of crocodile's teeth... Then I remembered the Honeyguide Bird, and the Honey Badger. The bird is really good at finding beehives, but not capable of cracking them open. The badger is strong enough to break open hives, but not good at finding them. So they work together, making up for each other's weaknesses and reaping the rewards. A beautiful "duet."

Drawing the Line

Recently I've been re-teaching myself Adobe Illustrator. Also, I am in need of some B&W line work. These are some characters I drew for an animation class a long time ago. The assignment was to make "vomitously" cute critters. I thought they would be good to practice on.

Inked

So I haven't posted in a long while... mostly because I've been busy doing ink drawings for clients (and for myself), and I rarely remember to scan 'em. Here's a few though.

Character Designs

A friend and I just started creating a new comic/graphic novel. We're still in the beginning stages, and I've been working on some character designs. Below are some pre-vis sketches for the main character (the guy) and a secondary character (the chick), as well as some props and what not...

Skull Mask

I just realized that I forgot to upload the finished piece.
(made of polymer clay and acrylic paint)
I created it to go with my Voodoo Witch costume for Halloween this year.

Illustration Friday: Spooky

I made these tarot card illustrations a while ago, but they fit this weeks Illustration Friday topic "Spooky", so I thought I'd post 'em...  (click for larger image)
